When we know our qualities of uniqueness, we can understand how to best take care of ourselves and bring forth our own unique natural beauty.
From the Ayuvedic point of view, our prakriti is formed as a result of three energies or doshas - Vata, Pitta and Kapha. These forces determine all functions of our body, thus shaping how we look, how our metabolic processes function, how we respond to different surroundings, how we think and feel. The three doshas are present in every cell of our body.
When the three doshas work in harmony, our body works to its maximum potential. When the doshas are imbalanced, it causes physical, mental and spiritual problems.
Ayurvedic Healing is based on bringing balance between the doshas.
The Doshas are further combinations of the five great elements...
1. Earth - the solid state of matter
2. Water - the fluid state of matter
3. Fire - the power to transform matter from one state to another
4. Air - the gaseous state of matter
5. Ether - the space or field in which matter exists
These five elements condense to the three doshas.
VATA - is a combination of AIR and ETHER. Vata, which is the principle of Kinetic energy in the body, is responsible for the movement of the body, mind and senses and the process of elimination
PITTA - is a combination of Fire and Water. Pitta is responsible for heat, metabolism, energy production and digestive function of the body.
KAPHA - is a combination of Earth and Water. Kapha, the principle of potential energy, is responsible for physical stability, proper body structure, and fluid balance.
